What’s New at Pediatric Associates…

Flu Season Is Coming!

Pediatric Associates is now giving Flu vaccine for the 2014-2015 season. The American Academy of Pediatrics and The CDC recommend that all children ages 6 months to 18 years receive Flu vaccine each year.

We will have preservative free (Thimerasol free) vaccine available for all children 6 months to 3 years. Children over 3 years will receive multi-dose Flu vaccine unless parents specifically request the preservative free vaccine. Not all insurance companies will cover the cost of preservative free vaccine over 3 years. This year all of our Flu vaccine will be quadrivalent and will contain 4 strains of influenza, rather than 3 strains as in previous years.

We also have the live intranasal Flu vaccine available (FluMist) for healthy children (those without asthma or chronic medical conditions) ages 2 years to 18 years. All doses of Flumist will be quadrivalent.

For more information about the Flu vaccine for 2013-2014, go to The CDC information site at

Flu Vaccine Appointments

We are now making flu shot only appointments. The appointment hours are 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday. We will take about 90 patients a day. Appointments should be booked 2-3 days in advance. It is important to arrive at your appointed time to keep wait times to a minimum.

Children 6 months through 9 years will need 2 doses if this is their first year receiving the Flu vaccine. The second dose must be at least 4 weeks after the first dose.

Saturday Flu Vaccine Appointments

We will have our next Saturday Flu shot clinic on October 11. Future Saturday clinics may be added in the future, as needed.
