Pediatric Associates is going green-ish!

We are excited to announce that we are making some changes to reduce paper waste in our office. Our much-loved well-check handouts are getting a makeover. The new condensed handout will still include your child's growth measurements and other important information; however further details on vaccines and other topics discussed at the checkup will be available by a QR code. In the next few months, we will also be transitioning to sending forms and specialist recommendations by email. We hope this change cuts down not just on paper waste but also time spent looking for lost slips of paper. In order to help make this transition easier, please make sure you have an updated email on file with our office.

Cold and Flu Season is here!

Cough and congestion and fever...oh my!

We are seeing a surge in cold and flu this month. We know how stressful it can be to have a sick child. We are here for you! We are working very hard to see every patient that needs to be seen. This might mean that we are working through our lunch, staying late or double-booking an appointment. We appreciate all your patience during this very busy time. We appreciate all of the trust you put in us to care for your most important family members and look forward to getting everyone back to healthy very soon.

At Pediatric Associates, our commitment is to evidence-based, child-centered care.

As the national recommendations on childhood vaccines continue to evolve, we want our families to know:

We are not changing our vaccine schedule or policy.

We will continue to follow the vaccine schedule as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Our guidance is rooted in decades of pediatric research and safety data and the belief that vaccines are one of the most effective tools we have to protect children and communities from serious, preventable disease.

We will continue to advocate for our families to have barrier-free access to and coverage for all recommended vaccinations.

We understand that this is a confusing situation and we are here to answer any questions you may have.

New Years Holiday Closure

Happy New Year!

We want to wish all of our families a great end to 2025! We look forward to seeing you in 2026 and wish you a healthy and happy new year. Our office will be open in the morning of New Year's Eve (Wednesday) for sick patients and then closed on New Year's Day (Thursday). We will be back to regular hours on Friday January 2nd. Please call early if you would like to have your child seen or have questions/need refills of medications.

Christmas Holiday Hours

'Twas the night before Christmas and all was quiet except for the coughs and sniffles...

Our office will have modified hours this week as we celebrate the holiday season with our families. On 12/24 we will be open in the morning for sick visits only. Please call early if you would like to have your child seen. We will be closed on Christmas Day but will be back to normal business hours on 12/26. Please call early if you have questions or concerns that you need addressed. We wish all of our families a safe and beautiful holiday season.

We will be closing early this Thursday for our office Christmas party.

This Thursday, December 4th, our office will be closing at 3pm so that we can celebrate our staff and all of the amazing care they provide throughout the year. Please call early in the day for questions, refills or concerns. We will be back to our regular hours the following day.

It is the season of togetherness...and illnesses. We are here for you! Please see our upcoming Thanksgiving hours.

We will be closed on Thursday November 27th to celebrate Thanksgiving holiday. Friday November 28th we will open at 8am and see patients until all patients have been seen. If you are wanting to have your child seen, please call early. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of our families. We are so proud that you let us be part of your family and we hope you have a happy and healthy holiday. Remember this is the holiday where we get to count mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie as fruits and veggies!

Update on Covid vaccine 2025

We have great news to share. Yesterday, September 11th 2025, the governor of Arizona, Katie Hobbs, signed an executive order to protect Covid vaccine availability for all Arizona residents who would like the vaccine. Her executive order acts as a "standing order" that will serve at the prescription for pharmacies to administer the vaccine. Her order also encourages health insurance providers to continue to cover Covid vaccines. However, this is not guaranteed so please check with your insurance prior to making an appointment with pharmacies. The Covid vaccine for children is not yet available in Arizona, but we anticipate it should be available in the next few weeks.

Covid Vaccine Information for Fall 2025

Many families are having questions regarding the new CDC recommendations for Covid vaccine for children. We understand the need for further guidance. We are still awaiting the information that will help us provide the best guidance for our families on the next steps. The American Academy of Pediatrics is continuing to recommend the Covid vaccine for all children 6 months or older. We are following the AAP vaccine recommendations and want to make sure that all families who would like to get the vaccine are able to. However, the pediatric Covid vaccine is not yet available in Arizona, and we are awaiting the official recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) meeting that is expected to happen in the next few weeks. After this we should be able to help guide families on what the requirements will be to get the vaccine and where the vaccine will be available. Unfortunately, we will not be having the vaccine in the office this season. Continue to monitor this page as well as our social media for the most up to date information and recommendations on this and other vaccine changes. We look forward to guiding you through this process.

Jennifer Valentine has over 30 years of nursing experience in all areas of pediatrics. She completed her Masters in Nursing at ASU in 2002 with an emphasis in Pediatric Primary Care. She has been practicing as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the Valley for over 23 years. She is bilingual in English and Spanish. In addition to primary care, she also has an interest in behavioral health and autism.

Happy Summer!

Keep your kids safe and healthy while enjoying the outdoors this summer! �� From using sunscreen to staying hydrated, check out these simple tips can make a big difference. �� Ensure your children have fun in the sun without the risks.

Apply sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher liberally and frequently (every 2 hours).
Seek shade and indoor activities in the hottest part of the day from 10am to 4pm (or 8 am to 6pm in Phoenix!)
Don't wait for children to say they are thirsty. Offer hydration frequently. Also enjoy plenty of popsicles!
Make sure your children are constantly supervised around water. Trade off on designated "water watchers" to allow everyone to take part in the fun.
Keep your children away from burn hazards such as BBQ's, bonfires and fireworks. Enjoy the beauty of fireworks from at least 500 feet away. This will prevent burns and also help prevent potential hearing damage.
Children should always wear helmets when riding bikes, all-terrain vehicles, scooters and skateboards.
